20 Years – Sendra Maenetsa

As part of our 20-year anniversary series, Sendra Maenetsa shares her most memorable moments and reflections as a Voltalian. From organizing youth sports events to celebrating cultural heritage, supporting elders, and strengthening community spirit, Sendra highlights how Voltalia’s impact goes far beyond energy projects. For her, Team Spirit is the value that shines the brightest, building stronger bonds with communities and stakeholders alike. And when asked who Voltalia would be if it were a person? Sendra sees Nelson Mandela – a source of inspiration, resilience, and hope. Don’t miss Sendra’s heartfelt testimonial – a powerful reminder of how each of us contributes to Voltalia’s story.

Sendra Maenetsa, CLO

What memory stands out the most for you at Voltalia?

The memory that stands for me at Voltalia, I would say community outreaches. Voltalia did a sports event last year in June to motivate our youth amongst the three communities. The other is Heritage Day, a celebration for us not to forget our cultural practices. They donated a lot of things for that event. The other thing, we visited old age center to donate toiletries, and to the drop-in centers to donate food parcels so that they do not sleep without meals and to promote livelihood. Then, the last thing we did, we donated to each tribal councils 100 chairs so that during tribal meetings, the community members are able to sit on chairs instead of rocks.

Which Voltalia value resonates the most with you?

The Voltalian value that resonates with me the most is Team Spirit. Since we are the CLOs (Community Liaison Officer) we are dealing with social, engaging with our communities, the tribal councils and different other key stakeholders. Engaging with them has improved our stakeholder relations and we have improved on many social work components. So we created a positive engagement and a community spirit.

"For Voltalians, I wish growth and development."

Nelson Mandela. He was a strong man, he fought for our human rights, and inspired many people across the world.

What do you wish for Voltalians?

For Voltalians, I wish growth and development. Since I am a CLO, I wish to develop within my company until I grow to Social Advisor or Social Manager.
