Sustainable procurement: building a responsible supply chain

Sustainability starts long before a solar panel is installed, or a wind turbine begins to turn. At Voltalia, it begins with the way we select our suppliers and partners. That’s why we’ve launched our Sustainable Procurement Policy - a framework that ensures every choice we make reflects our Mission: Improving the global environment by fostering local development.

"This policy will help us push the market and our partners to make sustainability a core part of every procurement decision. It’s not just about selecting suppliers-it’s about building long-term partnerships that reflect our values and help us deliver positive impact for the environment and society.”

Kevin Danton, Head of Procurement, Logistics and Contracts

Five Principles for a Responsible Supply Chain

Our policy is built on five pillars that guide every procurement decision:
1. Ethics and integrity – Rejecting corruption, fraud, and unfair practices. Transparency is the rule, not the exception.
2. Human rights and fair labour – Suppliers must provide safe, respectful, and equitable working conditions. Forced and child labour are strictly prohibited.
3. Environmental responsibility – We prioritise low-carbon solutions, sustainable materials, and suppliers who help us reduce emissions across our value chain.
4. Local development and inclusion – Whenever possible, we hire locally and work with regional suppliers, helping communities grow with us.
5. Transparent supplier relationships – From due diligence to robust contractual clauses, we ensure that trust and responsibility underpin every partnership.

From the Perspective of Our Asset Management Specialist

Léia Balles, ESG Asset Management Specialist at Voltalia, works directly with carbon credit certification for renewable energy projects in Brazil.
She believes that "a deep understanding of the processes and the experience gained day-to-day are essential factors to ensure the credibility and efficiency of carbon credit projects."
She also emphasizes the importance of combining technology and human expertise in a constantly evolving and changing world to ensure that these projects meet the highest standards of sustainability and transparency.
As the carbon market evolves, carbon credit certification will continue to be an essential pillar to ensure the transparency and reliability of this mechanism. Voltalia remains committed to contributing to this advancement, driving sustainable solutions for a green energy future.

More than environmental: a holistic approach
Sustainable procurement is a powerful way to multiply our impact. By choosing partners who share our values, we not only advance our decarbonisation goals, including the -35% carbon intensity reduction in our solar projects by 2030, but also strengthen communities and foster fair business practices.
This approach combines environmental responsibility with social progress, ethical partnerships, and local empowerment. It ensures that every project we deliver creates lasting value—not just for the planet, but also for people and the communities territories where we operate.

“Rolling out this policy across our teams was an opportunity to turn principles into practice. By training and supporting colleagues worldwide, we’re ensuring that sustainability is embedded in daily decisions, from the very first contact with a supplier to the final contract signature.”

Marine Jacquier, Group Sustainability Manager

Why it matters
Who we work with shapes how we deliver on our Mission. Each supplier partnership is an opportunity to multiply our impact and ensure that renewable energy development contributes to a fairer, greener, and more inclusive future.
